Online programs have been around for awhile but it is only recently that they have become an accepted form of learning. Employers are now inclined to hire online graduates as long as they can demonstrate relevant skills, and the taboo associated with distance learning is diminishing with time.
Initially online programs were seen as options for students who didn't get accepted to any other college or who just wanted a degree with minimum effort. That impression has changed a lot. Many renowned universities have set up their own online courses and programs, and as more and more exceptional students graduate from these programs, their popularity and recognition will only increase.
