'Cowboys and Aliens' Will Become an Instant Movie Classic

In the realm of science fiction movies, " Cowboys and Aliens " will become a classic because it is the unusual movies that reach this zenith. " Alien " shocked us with its brutal violence. " Predator " moved us with this violence and unusual technology. "Cowboys and Aliens" will also provide us with remarkable levels of action and fighting. Normally the mix of technology and mind-bending militarism knocks fans out of their seats. The bravado and American spirit of the cowboy clashing with the overwhelming technological edge of aliens is astounding. Some of the best movies in the science fiction genre combined fighting and high technology. A perfect example of this was " Star Trek ." This phenomenal series combined naval terms and tactics with other worldly technology to give us battleship captains and Starfleet Academy and other unique ideas and concepts.

The very best of the science fiction genre combines action, fighting and fear to evoke feelings of awe. Some great examples include " The Abyss ", " Dune " and my personal favorite " Lost ." Any of these grab the viewer with their scenes and cinematography and the story just never lets you go. Great writing is instrumental in each of these films but the writing doesn't come across in most of these movies. Cinematography tells the story in movies. The way scenes are shot and the power of the images weave the story for those watching. But in each movie, there was some unusual aspect that kept you watching or guessing until the end. In "The Abyss", it was the depth, in "Dune", it was the messiah angle and in "Lost" it was the island's purpose. Every good science fiction epic has some central theme that peaks your interest and makes you want to see a sequel or television series. With "Cowboys and Aliens" it is the incongruence of technology. The era of horse and buggies versus aliens with glitzy technology will strike a cord with audiences that they won't forget. This is how classics are born. Daniel Craig is a powerful actor that puts his own twist on things. When this movie goes over big in July 2011, there will at least be consideration of a sequel. Although it sounds like I am bring premature, "Cowboys and Aliens" will be the next " Batman " and this prediction is made without reservation. Unique science fiction movies aren't made very often. Most science fiction movies fall into a very specific pattern. They are either about journeying to a new world, finding an alien lifeform or some new alien weapon or monster. "Cowboys and Aliens" is about aliens finding human beings during a vulnerable time in human history. People virtually had only sticks and shotguns to fight aliens. It is a unique take on an old concept. It is sure to be a hit at the box office.
