"I'm learning Japanese to talk to Otani. I'm not sure what I want to say yet," De La Cruz said in an interview on Tuesday (Korea time). "I'm not sure if I can learn (until the All-Star game), but I'm working hard to learn (to talk to him)," he said. "I'm trying hard to learn Japanese to talk to Otani."
The 2024 ML All-Star will be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on the 17th. The best and most popular players in the league will come together. De La Cruz cannot be left out of this.
De La Cruz has 15 home runs in 91 games, a batting average of 0.251 with an on-base percentage of 0.344 and an OPS of 0.813. What represents him in particular is his fast feet. He has 45 stolen bases even though the first half is not over yet. On top of that, he recorded consecutive home runs in the game against Milwaukee on April 8. In the bottom of the seventh inning, he made the score with an inside park home run.
De La Cruz, who debuted last year, recorded a hit in the cycle (cycling heat in Korea) in 15 games since his debut in the ML. It is the third game of his kind after Cliff Heathcote (1918, eight games) and Gary Ward (1980, 14 games). On top of that, he gained recognition at Cincinnati by posting his first real record in 34 years since Erik Davis in 1989.
De La Cruz is talented in languages as well as baseball. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Spanish is his first language. In the past, interpreters were necessary to communicate in English. However, before this season, in March, he said, "It is important for the other person to understand what I am talking about and for me to understand this, too. That's why I worked hard on studying English for better conversation," adding that he missed the offseason.토토사이트 꽁머니
He added, "I practiced speaking with my colleagues every day during the spring camp. It is good that I can learn their confidence by just talking to Americans." Recently, he has shown off his proficiency in both baseball and language by showing off his fluent English interviews.
