自己紹介

My beautiful aunty has just passed away. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiun. May her trials in the grave be easy may Allah grant her jannah al Firdaus. She was an amazing woman. Our heart is broken

His body needs time to adjust. Take his measurements, the change will show there too. He may teed to start with low carb (same foods but more carbs allowed) at first.

Not sure why the humor in my answer. Type 2 diabetes is a serious condition. The blood sugar levels & A1c results are crucial in determining whether the diet is helping. That should be the 1st thing addressed.

As far as his weight, losing inches is usually achieved b4 you notice a change on the scale.

---------------------------------------------

I’m dietetic and I was in ketosis loosing a bit of weight, then my A1C went from 4.9 to 6.4 in a few months! The doctor s said ketosis is the worst thing for diabetics because the pancreas believes it has to move insulin to the liver which is the bad part. I follow to a point, but that’s it. It tricks you liver into making things a lot worse than they are. My levels were perfect couldn’t tell by poking that things were off. Went off my meds and screwed mused! Now they tell me my A1C won’t ever goes down much. Be careful! Watch the carbs and sugar yes, but not to ketosis point

Keto and Dr. Eric Westman on You Tube.. He is an actual weight Doctor and deals with people who have Diabetis... Worth a look anyway..

My mom is type 2 and my dad was on KETO so my mom decided to join in. It almost killed her. Please talk to his dr before changing his diet. The best diet is and always will be a restricted calorie, low carb diet with lots of water and exercise.

---------------------------------------------

I was also told I shouldn’t be doing keto because of my diabetes, so I am now on Calorie deficit, my sugars are pretty much always exactly where they should be now and my blood pressure has dropped. Not to mention the weight that is dropping off.

---------------------------------------------

I have a 67 year old type 2 father. He is low carb not keto. Limited exercise. He lost 25 lbs in 4 months, A1C went from 10.2 to 7.6. You should see a nutritionist recommended by his primary. Keep a daily 3 meal chart of what he eats which can show you when sugars are high then eliminate. Lots of ground Turkey breast with lots of veggies (no carrots-full of sugar). It’s all possible but I think with no medical guidance and just deciding to go keto will not work for anyone.

---------------------------------------------

Went from 13.5 to 5.6 in 8 months doing very strict paleo (not keto). The foods that badly impact blood sugar are excluded from paleo more It’s not just cutting carbs, but also avoiding several foods that seemed ok on keto, really worked. When in doubt, go more restrictive.

I highly recommend two books by Dr Jason Fung, THE OBESITY CODE and THE DIABETES CODE. They should give you much better insight into what is happening to your son. Fung is a nephrologist and diabetologist with specialised knowledge in this domain. He also conducts a lot of research projects.
