Real Madrid faces an injury crisis as key players have been sidelined, putting the team on high alert just days before the pivotal El Clasico clash against Barcelona.
On October 24 (KST), Real Madrid announced through their official website that forward Rodrygo (23, Brazil) has been diagnosed with a thigh injury after undergoing detailed medical examinations. While his exact recovery timeline remains uncertain, reports suggest he could be out for at least three weeks.
Rodrygo will therefore miss the highly anticipated El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 27, where he has previously performed well, netting 2 goals and 4 assists in 13 appearances against Barcelona. His absence is a significant loss for Real Madrid as they prepare for one of their most challenging matches of the season.
Although Real Madrid’s attacking lineup still boasts the likes of Vinicius Junior (24), Endrick (18), and Kylian Mbappe (25), losing a crucial attacking option just before El Clasico weakens their depth at a critical time.
Rodrygo’s injury is not the only setback for Madrid. Earlier this month, right-back Dani Carvajal (32, Spain) was ruled out for the season with a ruptured ACL, and just two days ago, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois (32, Belgium) was added to the injury list due to a groin issue. These absences place additional strain on manager Carlo Ancelotti’s (65, Italy) tactical decisions.
With Real Madrid trailing Barcelona by just one game in La Liga, the upcoming El Clasico could be decisive. A loss would increase the gap to two games, making it imperative for Madrid to be well-prepared both tactically and physically for the encounter.
Rodrygo, who joined Real Madrid in 2019, has accumulated 57 goals and 43 assists in 229 appearances, contributing to three La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League victories. His absence will be deeply felt as Madrid navigates this challenging period.
