Hello, I'm Micheal!
I am someone who answers, solves, and investigates all problems and questions related to Linux, Windows, and macOS operating systems.
I work in a private company that provides services with Linux based web servers. At the same time, I continue my education.
I would like to briefly talk about what Linux is.
Not without mentioning UNIX and Minix before you start talking about Linux. UNIX is the operating system developed by MIT, General Electric and AT&T to work as multi-user on computers such as IBM, Hewlett-Packard towards the mid-1970s. It was registered as a trademark in 1980 with the 7th version of UNIX, which was free until the 6th version, and this was not liked by those who wanted and developed a free operating system. Until then, it was used in the operating system courses of universities. In 1987, which is my birthday, Professor. The name of the mini UNIX-like operating system developed by Andy S. Tannenbaum for use in university courses is Minix. The professor has developed due to copyrights without even using a line code of UNIX.
Linux is the operating system kernel that was introduced as Linux 0.02 for the first time in 05.10.1991, with the announcement made online by Linus Torvalds, a student at the University of Finland at that time, and the contributions of other software developers were requested. So the reason why they call Linus Torvalds the father of Linux or the brain behind Linux is that he has this idea. Linux is a project still carried out by Linus Torvalds with open source code.
The philosophy of Linux's open-source operating systems is that it is a free, transparent operating system that is not adopted by Linus Torvalds, which also publishes its kernel. In this way, users immediately report the errors to the community, and those who develop software voluntarily in the community try to keep the operating system up-to-date and secure by fixing these problems.
I am sure that most of you will say Windows if I tell you what is the most common operating system in the world, but Linux is used from servers to Android phones, from supercomputers to International Space Station, from firewalls to TESLA cars, so you gave the wrong answer. I think if you give Linux a chance, you will not be able to give up.
As with Linux, UNIX, and Minix, it is developed using the C programming language and GCC is used as the compiler. If you are using any Linux distro, GCC will come installed and if you know the C programming language, you can also develop and even participate in the community of developers voluntarily, contributing to the survival, development, and safe stay as always.
